101 Tricks to See Before You Die – excerpt from The Magic Circular

THINK-A-DRINK – Steve Cohen
Several performers have featured ‘Any Drink Called For’ and we have already included Kalanag and his Magic Bar, but Steve Cohen earns his place on our list by offering a unique version of the classic trick. In his ‘Chamber Magic‘ show members of the audience are asked to shout out names of their favourite drinks. From a tea kettle Steve pours each of them in succession: Martini, Cosmopolitan, Japanese Sake, Pineapple Juice, and so on. Each person tastes their drink and confirms it is genuine. For the last drink, a spectator pours a drink they are merely thinking of – sure enough it, too, is genuine!

My notes regarding this magazine excerpt.
First, thank you to Graham Reed for including me in your prestigious article series. For those readers of this blog who aren’t magicians, The Magic Circular is the longest running regular magic magazine in conjuring history. It is the official magazine of the Magic Circle in London, an organization that I’m proud to belong to.
Graham had originally planned to include my performance of Think-a-Drink on his original list of 101 Tricks to See Before You Die. The article series ran in April, May and June of this year. However, since he had already included Kalanag’s Magic Bar, my inclusion was held over to “Part 4: Epilogue” which just appeared this month, in the November 2010 issue.
I’m honored to have been represented in Graham’s article series.
