I rang the opening bell at NASDAQ on April 9, 2025. And the market experienced its second-highest single day gain in history! Yes, I brought some magic to the market. NASDAQ invited me to open the stock market as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of my show Chamber Magic. It was a great experience. Lord knows we need magic in our portfolios.

It is not lost on me that, today of all days, they asked a magician to ring the NASDAQ opening bell!

And for good reason. A magician is, and a magician must be, rooted in optimism. Over the past 25 years of performing my show here in New York, I’ve come to realize a good general definition of magic is captured in this optimistic phrase: Creating Something From Nothing. A magician creates something from nothing.

Twenty-five years ago I had a vision of creating an intimate magic show in a luxury hotel for those who seek out the finest things in life. But such a show doesn’t spring fully formed from your head. I needed to learn more than just magic tricks. I needed to become an entrepreneur. I had to learn marketing. I had to learn sales. And I had to learn how to build a team. Together, we created something from nothing.

Chamber Magic has become the longest running solo magic show in the history of New York. Over half a million people have come to visit me from around the world, first at the Waldorf Astoria, and now at the magnificent Lotte New York Palace hotel on Madison Avenue. I look out in the audience and see royalty, I see heads of state, I see A-list movie stars and film directors, Nobel Prize laureates, Hall of Fame athletes.

But I also see regular people. Tourists from other parts of the country. People who had to save up just to buy a single ticket. And I love how magic becomes this wonderful equalizer.

It creates a twinkle of possibility for us all. Like anything can happen. Abracadabra. Which means, “As I speak, so shall I create.”

I’m proud to have created something from nothing in the most competitive theater market in the world here in New York City. Thank you for recognizing Chamber Magic today with this honor of a lifetime.
