6000th show celebration

October 9, 2023

On October 6, 2023 I had the immense honor of accomplishing a rare feat in show business – Chamber Magic’s 6000th performance in NYC, the most competitive theater city in the world. Thank you to friends, fellow magicians, and Chamber Magic fans far and wide for celebrating with me!

Guests traveled in from Kuwait, Sweden, Mexico, Canada, England, and all over the United States.

After the show, the Lotte New York Palace hosted a reception for all attendees, serving a new cocktail named in my honor: the “Think-a-Drink.” It is now offered on the menu every Friday and Saturday night in the hotel lobby bar, Trouble’s Trust. The cocktail is tasty yet potent, incorporating Bulleit Bourbon, Nolet Silver Gin, Earl Grey syrup, Creme de Violet, fresh blackberries, and a sprig of rosemary. Best of all, waiters serve “Think-a-Drink” from teakettles just like mine!

Reception attendees received a complimentary “Think-a-Drink” poster created for the occasion.

During the reception, we held a door prize raffle for a free two-night stay at the Lotte New York Palace hotel. The lovely couple who won was overwhelmed. We also gave away limited-edition hardcover copies of my graphic novel, The Millionaires’ Magician.

I performed some favorite close-up magic for guests at the party. The expression on this young lady’s face is the reason I keep doing magic.

To a magician, reactions like this are better than applause:

Six thousand shows equates to over 10,000 hours of stage time. While this mythical number of hours has been deemed by Malcolm Gladwell to indicate mastery of a subject, I feel I’m still discovering nuances with every successive show. Maintaining a student mentality has kept me interested and engaged in creating the delicate atmosphere required to make magic tricks feel real to my audiences.

We celebrated the 6000th show on “Chamber Magic Day” – October 6th – as designated by NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio at my 5000th show in 2017.
